Shortcuts

The Shortcuts menu contains the saved version of some popular and useful diagrams. The charts on the a diagram can be saved in the form of scenarios. We will talk about saving and managing scenarios in the latter parts of this section. The Shortcuts menu contains the saved scenarios that can be useful in the every day work of the user. We can open a scenario simply by clicking on one of the items in the menu. If we do this, we will get some charts in the right panel (we will talk about the different charts in Section 3.3.5). For example we can open a scenario to see the top 20 classes according to their lines of code value (menu item - Biggest classes). Also, if a system develops rapidly, the metric numbers are changing every day. So we have a scenario that shows a snapshot of the current system (menu item - System snapshot) to help us see the main characteristics of the analysed source.

Currently the menu holds six saved scenarios but the list will expand as the user saves more and more of them. There are two menu items to save and manage our own scenarios. By pressing the Add... menu we get a small window in the center of the screen. Here we can save the chart that is currently visible in the right panel (note that we can only save a scenario if we have at least one chart in the right panel). We only need to give a name and optionally a short description to this saved scenario. If we have already saved some scenarios, they will be available in the Shortcuts menu just like the pre-made ones.

We can also manage our saved scenarios from the Manage... menu. Accessing this menu item we will get a new window on the screen. The main part of this window shows the list of scenarios that we can use. In the bottom of the window we can find five buttons (note that some of these buttons are only active if we select a scenario from the list). By pressing the Load button we can visualize the scenario on the right panel (equal to selecting the name of the scenario from the Shortcuts menu). We can also do this by double-clicking on the name of the scenario in the list. If we have at least one chart in the right panel, we can save it to a scenario with the Save button. This will open the same small window as the Add... menu. We can delete a saved scenario with the Remove button. We can also edit the properties of a sceanrio with the Edit buttom. In this case we get a new window where we can change the name and the description of the scenario. Also in the middle of this window we can choose whether to Apply scenario for the selected date. We can choose on of three options: always apply for the selected date - Always, never apply for the selected date - Never or ask at every application Ask. We can close the window of scenarios with the Cancel button.
