In the rapidly evolving world of technology, it is essential for future professionals to stay up to date with the latest methodologies and techniques. This is why the Faculty of Science and Informatics at the University of Szeged (SZTE TTIK) has been offering a unique opportunity for several years now: the Agile Software Development course provides not only theoretical knowledge but also hands-on experience.

Practical experience through real projects

One of the biggest advantages of the Agile Software Development course is its emphasis on practice. Through real-life projects, students gain insight into agile methodologies such as Scrum and Sprint. Facing the challenges of working on live projects with deadlines ensures that students nearing graduation gain market-relevant knowledge—a huge advantage in the job market.

During the second semester of the 2023/2024 academic year, the course was taught by two developers from FrontEndART, Dániel Árpádfalvi and Gábor Györgydeák. Our colleagues provided students with up-to-date knowledge, as their daily work involves the advantages and possible challenges of the Scrum methodology.

Version control and Git

Students also learned the basics of version control during the course, with special emphasis on the use of Git. They acquired skills to manage code changes effectively and to keep their repositories organized. These skills are considered fundamental in many companies, giving students confidence that they are gaining in-demand knowledge over the semester.

Teamwork and communication – dynamics between the client and the Scrum team

Agile methodologies focus not only on technical expertise but also on the development of communication and collaboration skills. Our colleagues placed strong emphasis during the course on ensuring students learned the foundations of effective teamwork. The course explored topics such as how to work efficiently in a team, how to communicate effectively with clients, and how to resolve internal team conflicts. These soft skills are essential for a successful professional career.

According to student feedback, the Agile Software Development course was not only useful but also fun. The experiences and challenges encountered throughout the course helped students acquire skills that will make them stand out in the job market.
